Rabi-ul-Awwal
Rabi-ul-Awwal is the third month of Islamic lunar calendar. The month of Rabi-ul-Awwal is well known in the entire Muslim world as Shahr al-Mawlid (The Month of Birth) of the beloved Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
Though the whole month of Rabi-ul-Awwal has great importance and equal respect in the whole Islamic calendar but the most significant day of this month is 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal.
The significance of this day is associated with the dignity of the man who was born on this day. The man born on this day was the answer to Abraham’s supplication and whose predictions were given by Jesus to their people, the man whose birth had been foretold in all the Holy Books.
He was born for the blessing of all the mankind and for him the whole universe was created Indeed!
12th Rabi-ul-Awwal
The 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal is the specific day of the month when the last prophet of Allah Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) was born. This is the day when the leader of all Prophets came into the world to lead the humanity from darkness to the light.
12th Rabi-ul-Awwal is celebrated by the whole Muslim community of world with great respect and amazing pleasure. The Muslims arrange Milad and lighting the houses and streets. The rallies are also been organized by some fiqahs to show their love and devotion towards the beloved Prophet.
In year 2016, the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal is observed on Monday, 12th December 2016.
The birth of Holy Prophet was the most remarkable event in the human history. Had there been room in Islamic teachings for the celebrations of birthdays or anniversaries, the birthday of Holy Prophet would have undoubtedly deserved it more than the birthday of any other person. But that is against the teaching of Islam.
That is why unlike Judaism, Christianity, and Hinduism, the day is not celebrated with loudness, bothering of neighbors or with birthday songs.
In fact, this great event of Islam is usually reserved for Allah countless blessing on the whole Muslim Ummah and Muslim used to do prayers and praises the name of Allah and his best one creation prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
What to do on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal
This occasion serves a great purpose in that it brings the people closer to the teachings of Islam and to the Prophet’s way of life. It causes them to remember that the prophet was a blessing for the whole universe, so they should also behave with others like him.
On this occasion, Muslim parents should tell the stories of Prophet to their children that shed light on different aspects of Prophet’s life. This practice will kindle the flame of love in their hearts.
And this message will serve as a beacon of light for the future generations. This day should also be served by paying thousand of thanks to Almighty Allah for His great blessing in the form of Prophet Mohammad towards the ignorant people.
The 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal is observed as the national holiday in Pakistan and special gatherings of Milad of Prophet have organized by different organizations. The food is distributed among poor ones and exchange of applause take place between people.
